    This vegan coffee house and bakery is close to my heart. Roasting their own beans, this place is a dream for someone like me, who's been on the vegan-vegetarian+ bus for nearly two decades. I've dropped hints every birthday about craving a vegan fat kid birthday cake that actually tastes like indulgence, but I usually end up settling for a cupcake because, well, I'm just a poor girl with refined taste. The patio/sidewalk outside is always buzzing, with people inside engrossed in their laptops. I often daydream about being cool enough to post up inside and answer all my Craigslist ads while drinking artisanal coffee, but for now, I find myself vibed out by the work-from-home crew. Regardless, it's refreshing to have a spot where veganism meets quality coffee and baked goods, creating a space that feels friendly. Fingers crossed that my peak wealth birthday cake wish comes true this year!

    Unfortunately, I'm giving this a four star review only based on previous service experience and not my most recent visit. In my most recent visit, as per usual, I ordered a pourover during my most recent visit. They didn't wet the filter, nor did they pay much attention to the coffee while it was brewing...sometimes leaving the coffee grounds dry while they were brewing other drinks. Normally, my expectations are a bit lower for pourover I order at cafes because I understand there's a lot of variability to extraction, however...the past times I've ordered pourover here, there did seem to be a level of rigor and attention to detail when the baristas made pourovers. Needless to say, I'm a bit disappointed that the quality really plummeted in my most recent visit. I could tell the person making it was newer and wasn't trained, but I would hope more attention was invested into training them properly. That being said, I also want to recognize that my past experiences here, excluding this most recent time, have always been really positive. The baristas I've met in the past have always crafted the drinks with a lot of attention and care and demonstrate a lot of expertise when chatting with them about the coffee. It's also a great spot to meet up with friends for a cup of coffee and they have some pretty wonderful vegan pastries for sale! I hope that the next time I go back, the experience will be more reminiscent of the past times I've gone.

    A must stop in the Bay Area. Wish we had a timeless in Long Beach. Pastries are so amazing.
